I connected my TV's optical output to the WS161, and now I have much better sound for movies through my passive speakers. Plus I get internet radio. It's like having a stereo receiver, internet tuner, and DAC all in one. The 2-inch display is clear and dimmable for night use. C Crane's unit can't take optical input. This is much more versatile. Highly recommended for home theater setups.

I bought this mainly for internet radio but discovered the 6.35mm headphone output is excellent. Drives my Sennheiser HD600 without issue. The EQ settings allow fine-tuning. The build quality is solid – aluminum front panel feels premium. Very happy.

I've tried several internet radios, including the C Crane CC WiFi 3. The C Crane is a nice portable speaker, but the WS161 is in a different league. With 50W amp, RCA outputs (C Crane only has 3.5mm), optical/coaxial inputs, and a real headphone amp, this is for serious listeners. I connected it to my B&W bookshelf speakers, and the sound is stunning. Worth every penny of the $300 price tag.

The sound quality via my passive speakers is excellent. The 9-band EQ lets me adjust to my liking. C Crane's WiFi 3 has Bluetooth but no amplifier, so you'd still need powered speakers. You don't need receivers with all the power this delivers. You do need a little tech savvy to get it running, but once it's there, it's there!

The radio arrived in 14 days as promised and works great. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the preset buttons (1-9) don't work like traditional presets—you have to navigate through menus to switch between favorites. It's a bit cumbersome, but otherwise, a solid performer. Add the matching 120W linear power supply for an even darker background and lower noise floor.
